Provider Update: Mental Health Services for Victims of Violent Crime
The California Victim Compensation Board applauds the thousands of mental health providers who help victims of crime. We recognize the dedication that goes into working with victims. To this end, we are launching new efforts to engage in outreach to support crime victim providers. The California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) is now offering Provider Information Forums via teleconference. The forums offer information and support to mental health providers and offer a great opportunity to ask questions. For more information on Provider Information Forums, please contact Provider Forum Coordinator Bertha Peña at (916) 491-3528 or ProviderForums@victims.ca.gov. To get on the Provider Information Forum contact list, you may use the online request form.
Provider Information Forum Dates and Topics
To personally assist any mental health provider with issues relating to working with the CalVCB in helping crime victims, please contact Bertha Peña at (916) 491-3528 or Bertha.Pena@victims.ca.gov. You may also contact Michael Ramirez, CalVCB Manager, at (916) 491-3604 or Michael.Ramirez@victims.ca.gov.
To obtain information on bill status, providers may complete an Application and Bill Status Request Form. This form will help providers obtain expedited information about the status of multiple bills.
To improve the efficiency of getting providers paid for their services, we require that all mental health provider bills be submitted on standard forms. Bills submitted by providers on the standard forms will ensure that the bills are processed as quickly as possible for payment through our automated claims system. Bills submitted on non-standard forms may experience unnecessary delays. Therefore, all mental health providers must submit their bills for services provided to crime victims on the standard Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 1500 form.
Again, thank you to all of the mental health providers that serve victims of crime. You play a vital role in helping crime victims take back their lives.
