Ombudsperson:
The CalVCB Ombudsperson reviews complaints regarding:
- CalVCB not following statutes or regulations in processing victim compensation claims.
- The professionalism or misconduct of CalVCB staff or our partners when conducting CalVCB business such as claim processing.
When contacting the Ombudsperson, please provide the following information:
- Your name and phone number.
- If applicable, CalVCB application and/or bill numbers. If you do not know your application or bill number please provide your full name, date of birth and date of the crime.
- Names of individuals involved in your complaint such as CalVCB employees, providers, businesses, or CalVCB partners.
- A detailed description of the actions or behaviors that you believe resulted in non-compliance, misconduct, or unprofessionalism.
- The time and date when the conduct occurred.
A representative of the Ombudsperson will review your inquiry, and you will receive a response within five business days.
If you have already sent your complaint to the Ombudsperson, please do not resend your complaint unless there is additional information necessary to address your concerns. Resubmitting complaints can cause delays in researching your concern.

- If you need documents from providers or law enforcement, they can be requested from the provider or law enforcement agency including medical bills, restraining orders, or updates to criminal cases.
