When a crime occurs in a residence or vehicle, CalVCB may reimburse any individual who pays, or assumes the obligation to pay, reasonable costs to clean the scene of the crime in an amount not to exceed $1,709. (GC § 13957(a)(9))
The Board may only reimburse crime scene cleanup expenses provided by an individual or company registered as a trauma scene waste management practitioner with the California Department of Public Health. CalVCB can only pay for the cleanup of biohazard materials and not for damaged property.
